How it works
Our process
Idea & site visit
We talk through what the structure needs to do — shade, shelter, screen, grow — and check ground conditions.
Design & quote
Sketch or drawing with timber spec, finish and a fixed build price.
Build
Posts set in concrete, frames built on site, finished in oil or stain — most structures up in 1–3 days.
Planting (optional)
Climbers (wisteria, roses, jasmine, clematis) planted at the base if you want it green within a season.
Materials & specification
Built to last in Dorset.
Pergolas
Softwood for budget builds, planed/oiled softwood for the sweet spot of cost and looks, or green oak for premium, decades-long structures.
Arches
Sized to your gate or path, freestanding or fixed — perfect support for roses, wisteria or honeysuckle.
Raised beds
Sleeper or board construction, lined and filled with quality topsoil — ready to plant on completion.
Screens & trellis
Slatted hardwood or treated softwood screens for privacy, hot tub enclosures or hiding bins and storage.
Investment
Honest quotes. No surprises.
Garden structures in Bournemouth typically come in at: arches from £350, raised beds from £180 per metre run, slatted privacy screens from £160 per linear metre, and pergolas from £1,400 (compact softwood) up to £6,500+ (large oak with installed posts and decking base).
FAQs
Common questions.
Do garden structures need planning permission?+
Most freestanding pergolas, arches and raised beds in a rear garden are permitted development under 2.5m high. We'll flag anything that needs a check before we build.
How tall can a garden structure be?+
In a typical rear garden, freestanding outbuildings and structures can be up to 2.5m high without planning permission (single storey, set away from boundaries). Front gardens and listed/conservation areas have tighter rules — we'll advise on the site visit.
How do you build a garden pergola?+
Posts set in concrete footings, head beams notched and bolted, rafters and battens above. Solid joinery, galvanised fixings, oiled or stained finish — built to last 15–20+ years.
Can you plant climbers up the structure?+
Yes — wisteria, climbing roses, jasmine, clematis and grapevine are all popular. We can supply and plant at the base on completion.
Do you cover Poole and Christchurch?+
Yes — Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and surrounding Dorset.
